Orange River Canoe Marathon-The small Central Districts Canoe Union incorporates the old Free State Canoe Union, as well as clubs in the Northern Cape and North West provinces.

It is based in Kimberley and provides a domestic season aimed at training for the major long distance races across the country.

It's premier event is the 2 day Orange River Canoe Marathon (ORCM), a blend of flat water, and a number of massive rapids.

Directions
From Port Elizabeth: (611 Km – 6 Hours) Take the N10 through Middleburg, Hanover, De Aar then at Britstown the N12 towards Kimberley – Hopetown is 132 km North of Britstown. Alternatively from Hanover go Phillipstown, Petrusville, Orania then Hopetown. This is slightly shorter and gives an idea where Day 2 will start. Make a short 20km detour just after Petrusville if you want to see the mighty Van Der Kloof Dam.
From Johannesburg: (608 Km – 6 Hours) N12 South to Kimberley (470 Km), then stay on N12 to Hopetown (121Km South of Kimberley)
From Cape Town: (819 Km – 8 Hours) N1 North through Beaufort West (460Km), at Three Sisters take the N12 to Victoria West, Britstown then Hopetown, (132 km North of Britstown)
From Durban: (983 Km – 10 hours) N3 Inland to Harrismith, then N5 through Winburg & Bloemfontein, then the N8 to Kimberley, then N12 to Hopetown (121Km South of Kimberley)
