The annual Gotcha DHL Pro has been upgraded to a one star ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) event this year and is expected to attract international competitors as well as South Africa's best surfers to Umhlanga's main beach from December 9 to 11.

The event will also include a womens an Pro Junior division which both have a 2A ASP Africa PST rating.

According to sources in ASP Africa the Gotcha DHL Pro is a landmark event as it is the 200th professional surfing contest to be staged in South Africa since 1986.

It is the final event on the ASP Africa Pro Surf Tour (PST) which is the series that determines the ASP Africa PST champions.
