Gauteng although the smallest of the new Provinces in South Africa is far from the least important as it is the industrial hub and also finance capital.


East Rand Shopping Mall: Visit East Rand Mall, where there is something for everybody which includes a games arcade, restaurants, coffee shops, a nine theatre cinema centre and an exciting food and entertainment mall.

The Wesbank Raceway: Built on the site of a former horse racing track and opened in 2003, this facility features an oval track, dragstrip, road circuit and motorcross track, allowing for a wide range of events.

Boksburg Lake: Boksburg Lake is a spectacular lake which is over 150,000 square metres and surrounded by lawns, trees, and terraces. This is a popular boating, fishing, watersport and hiking destination for many. The scenery here is lovely and many families enjoy blissful and entertaining days and weekends here.
The Cradle of Humankind: Offers a unique natural, cultural and historical tourism experience. Some of the activities already available include: Cave tours to learn about the evolution of humankind; Game drives; Mountain bike trails etc.

Constitution Hill: A living museum documenting South Africa's turbulent and often violent political history is a vital stop for any traveller in Johannesburg

Randburg Waterfront: A cheerful mix of amusement parks, restaurants, nightclubs and shops overlooking an expanse of a man-made lake. Today there are also spots which are grass areas ideal for family picnics.

Sandton: A diverse business destination and home to financial institutions and IT companies and many more. It is also known as `the richest square mile` in Africa. Sprawling Sandton rivals the city centre as the up-and-coming business nucleus with pristine shopping plazas and restaurants which beckon the rich and famous. Vibrant entertainment throughout the city offers locals an opportunity to enjoy quality leisure time.

Gold Reef City: A reconstruction of Johannesburg during the gold rush era. Built around a gold mine, it offers visitors a Victorian fun fair, a brewery, pubs, hotel and also stock exchange. Take a trip down an old mine shaft or watch gold being poured, tribal dancing and so much more!
South African State Theatre: With its five theatres and huge public square, famous for lavish productions that saw overseas opera singers and ballet dancers grace the huge main stage alongside a permanent opera ensemble and chorus, ballet company, dance company, drama company, and all the departments necessary to support a working theatre. Today the State Theatre continues to host a variety of blockbuster shows and local talent.

Pretoria National Zoological Gardens: This is one of the most famous zoos in the world and the largest in South Africa. The most interesting feature of the zoo is the aquarium and reptile park. Visitors can also take a ride in the famous cable cars which provide excellent views of the zoo and city.

Church Square: The square is dominated by Anton van Wouw's fabulous bronze statue of Oom Paul, patriarch, president of the South African Republic (from 1883 until his flight into exile in 1900) and who is regarded as the "Father of Afrikanerdom". Guided tours of the square can be arranged.

Voortrekker Monument: The unique marble Frieze is an intrinsic part of the design - in bas-relief 27 panels depict the story of the Great Trek from 1835 to 1852. The Frieze does not only show the history of the Great Trek, but also depicts every day life, work methods, religious beliefs and the way of life of the Voortrekkers.
The Vredefort Dome: It is the oldest and largest recognised impact structure known. A massive meteorite (thought to have been between 10 to 15 kilometres in diameter) struck the earth billions of years ago in the Vredefort area, smashing the subterranean strata and rock reefs, forcing them upwards above the earth's surface. Today the Vredefort Dome area is an outdoor adventure paradise offering hiking and mountain-biking trails, canoeing, white water rafting, abseiling, etc.

The Magaliesberge: Rated amongst the most ancient in the world with an intriguing geological history, the mountains are home to a wide and interesting variety of birds, including the endangered Cape Vulture. An area steeped in history, from fossil sites to significant South African War battlefields, it holds diversity and enjoyment for visitors.

Game Reserves: Visit one of the many game reserves and view the Big Five - Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant from the comfort of an open vehicle, 4x4, horseback or take a guided walk with one of the specialist guides and learn of the ancient herbal remedies. The park is a popular destination, a World Heritage Site comprising of 328 000 hectares of magnificent scenery which offers a wide range of activities including fishing, boating, bird-watching, scuba-diving, hiking and camping.
