Grading Types

Three grading options are visible on SABookOnline, grading is performed either by an independent authority for example TGCSA or AA; or where an establishment self-assesses itself.
In the case of self-assessment the establishment completes a questionnaire which is scored.

Guest Rating

Guests that stay at an establishment provide a rating and comments about their stay. If a Verified tick is visible next to the guest name, this indicates that SABookOnline has independently verified the rating.

Accommodation Types

• Bed and Breakfasts are boarding houses typically operating out of large single family residences with breakfast included.



• Boutique Hotels, usually luxurious or quirky hotel environments, are 5 star establishments providing personalized accommodation and services / facilities.



• Guest Houses are usually private homes which have been transformed to provide overnight accommodation with public areas for the exclusive use of its guests. Meals may be provided.



• Hotels are establishments that provide rooms on a short-term basis and have a reception area. Additional guest services are usually provided, e.g. restaurant, swimming pool and room service.



• Lodges are located in a natural environment. All meals are usually included as well as outdoor experiences such as game drives, hikes etc.



• Self catering establishments provide facilities and equipment for guests to cater for themselves. The establishment should feature a fully equipped kitchen to cater for an advertised number of people.



• Houseboats are easy-to-handle boats with house-like characteristics with comfortable furniture and living accommodation.

Establishment Status

As all establishment deal directly with you via our portal we classify them by a status rating based on the nature of service they offer.

• Silver establishments will communicate with you via email or telephone enquiries only; all bookings will be coordinated by them via their own facilities.



• Gold establishments use our quote/offer and booking engine which allows for rapid response, online bookings and tracking the progress of all requests through our system. A call centre is also available to assist with your requests.



• Platinum establishments have all the facilities of Gold establishments but with the added benefit of dedicated staff at SABookOnline dealing with their requests.
