The World Cup in South Africa

South Africa is the host nation of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. This will be the first time ever that Africa will be hosting this spectacular event.
The 64 football matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be played in nine South African cities Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg and Pretoria. Overall there will be 10 stadiums of which 2 of the 10 will be situated in Johannesburg. Half of the stadiums will be upgraded while the other half are under construction.
The five upgraded stadiums are located in:

Rustenburg (Royal Bafokeng Stadium capacity: 42 000 seats)

Bloemfontein (Vodacom Park Stadium capacity: 48 000 seats)

Pretoria (Loftus Versfeld Stadium capacity: 50 000 seats)

Johannesburg (Soccer City Stadium capacity: 95 000 seats and Ellis Park Stadium capacity: 61 000 seats)

The five newly built stadiums will be positioned in:

Cape Town (Greenpoint Stadium capacity: 70 000 seats)

Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Bay Multi-Purpose Sports Facility capacity: 50 000 seats)

Durban (Moses Mabhida Stadium capacity: 70 000 seats)

Nelspruit (Mataffin Stadium capacity: 46 000 seats) .

Polokwane (Peter Mokaba Stadium capacity: 46 000 seats)
