Summary:

Situated in the picturesque village of Winterton in the foothills of the Drakensberg this accommodation has a single room with TV, fridge and coffee facilities. Available are braai areas, pool, trampoline and play area for children in a lovely big garden. We offer berg hikes, mountain meander Arts & Crafts trail, Spieonkop Nature Reserve, Cheese Farm, world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir school, Battle Fields and historic sites, golf... all within easy reach. We also recently opened a salon on the premises. We offer most beauty treatments including bridal packages


Theme:

Comfortable surroundings with all the modern amenities available. Our restaurant offers great South African home baked foods! A swimming pool in the grounds of their impressive garden completes the peaceful surroundings even though you are almost in the village. Winterton is very central to Spioenkop Game Reserve and dam as well as the Meander route up to the mountains


Views:

Most rooms have views of the mountains and garden.

This property has a braai area, pool as well as play area for the kids! The houses are all tastefully decorated and equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible with en-suite rooms and T.V.

Directions to The Purple House
From Durban:
A) Along the N3, pass the Shell Ultra City and take the Exit 194, Winterton/Bergville/Colenso/R74 glide off. Turn left and proceed to Winterton.
B) ***Enter the avenue of trees and within the first kilometre, you’ll see the Purple House on your right-hand side.
You have arrived!!

From Johannesburg:
A) Scenic Route: CAUTION: Do not follow this route in wet weather. Johannesburg to Harrismith on N3. At Harrismith turn right or BETHLEHEM/BLOEMFONTEIN. Proceed for +/- 5km, turn left again BERGFVILLE/OLIVIERSHOEK PASS toad. Continue past Oliviershoek Pass, straight through Bergville and onto Winterton ******** Pass the Engen Garage on your left, travel through town on the main road. Pass the Shell Garage on your right. Travel a further 100m – Purple House and Lilac Lodge are on your left-hand side.
B) Freeway Route:
Johannesburg to Van Reenen’s Pass on the N3. Take the first Toll Plaze, which is at the bottom of Van Reenen’s Pass.
Route 1: Turn left for approximately 4kms on the N1 and then turn right onto the R600. You will cross over the N3 concrete highway. Turn left towards Winterton, See ********** above ‘Senic Route”
Route 2: Turn right over the N3 freeway and proceed for 38km to Bergville and proceed past Bergville, continue on R74 for 22km. See ******* Above ‘Scenic Route”
