Welcome to Parker Cottage! We’re a little different to the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional ‘place to sleep’, we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat right in the creative heart of Cape Town. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don`t do minibars, piped music or even reception desks. We’re the kind of place where you can rediscover the art of conversation, endless breakfasts and total serenity Parker is a social place too: our legendary wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there’s no ‘cut off’ time for our gourmet breakfasts either.

At Parker, we strive to combine luxurious hospitality and accommodation with an active concern for the society and the environment. Luxurious accommodation does not have to cost the earth: by 2015, Parker aims to be ‘off-grid’ for water heating, electricity, water and sewage and recycling 90% of our waste. We are involved in several social upliftment projects we personally manage or sponsor.

Our rooms and décor are equally distinctive: using original art works from South African artists and influences from Afro-Colonial to Provencale to Middle Eastern, we promise an eclectic mix of design underpinned by grand Victorian opulence.

We offer free WiFi, free monitored parking, and free use of a PC. Parker has two gardens (with a Koi pond) and one sunny. There are two guest lounges and a wonderful veranda for breakfasts and our wine evenings – which occur every other day and are totally free. All rooms are en suite with either bath or shower rooms and we can provide televisions and air conditioning on request.

We’re less than 8 minutes by car from the Waterfront and less than 5 minutes on foot from trendy Kloof Street with its cafés, bars and boutiques.

Coming from the N2
(Airport, Garden Route, Winelands)

Easy way (adds five minutes)
Drive all the way to the end of the N2, following signs for the CTICC (Convention Centre.) You’ll drive past the Centre on your left and arrive in town. The turning to the V and A Waterfront will be on your right and Table Mountain will be straight ahead.
Go through six sets of lights on the road you are on, which is called Buitengracht.
After the sixth set of lights (junction with Buitensingel), get into the right hand lane.
At the seventh set of lights, you will see Rafiki’s Bar is the first floor on your left and Beleza restaurant over the road on your right. Stay in the right hand lane, go through the lights and go back on your self back down towards the Waterfront.
The second road on your left is Carstens Street. Turn in to the road.
The second building on your left is Parker Cottage.

Unit Information - Parker Cottage

Beautiful Rooms, 4 bedrooms, sleeps 2

Overview	The Nguni Room (3) works with greens and whites to create a distinguished and exclusive ambiance which feels homely and welcoming at the same time. There’s a partial view of Table Mountain too. You have a full bathroom with the house’s original Victorian ball-and-claw freestanding bath (which has a shower over) and a window opening onto a private courtyard at the back of Number 3 Carstens. The Pomegrante Room (5) is on the first floor towards the back of Number 3. This room has some partial views of Table Mountain and faces East. It has an en suite shower room, air-conditioning and either a King size bed or twin singles. The bathroom is decorated in deep reds with slate tiles whereas the bedroom is a combination of khaki and mahogany. The Klienemonde Room (4) You access the room by a staircase shared with only one other room, so it has lots of privacy. It also has a partial view of Signal Hill. The room has an en suite shower room and air-conditioning, and is decorated in a calming blues. This room has either twin beds or a King bed, as you prefer. The Southmoor Room (7) has a distinctly rural feel: it’s decorated in earthy greens and browns and features a wrought-iron and brass Queen sized bed. The large sash window faces out through colonial shutters onto a private courtyard at the back of the house. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower over and a stately 1930s mahogany wardrobe along with a tub armchair.
Bed configuration	The Nguni Room (3) has a Queen bed. The Pomegranate Room (5) has either a King-size bed or twin singles to choice. The Klienemonde Room (4) has twin beds or a King-size bed as you choose. The Southmoor Room (7) has a Queen bed.

City Loft, 1 bedroom, sleeps 4

Overview	Our CITY LOFT SUITE is situated in what was once the highest building in Africa: built in 1930 as a bank’s headquarters in lavish Art Deco style, it is situated on the 5th floor with partial views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak. It’s chic and modern with a mezzanine bedroom and open plan kitchen (with oven, fridge/freezer and four plate hob), dining room and lounge. The apartment has a full bathroom (separate shower and bath) a WiFi LAN, cable TV, air conditioning and is fully serviced. It has its own secure parking space and free use of a roof-top pool and gym in the Adderley Complex, which is accessed by a skybridge. There is 24 hour security and the apartment can sleep two in luxurious comfort in the mezzanine area with another two on the large sleeper couch. This apartment would suit you if you're looking for four star luxury at three star prices and you'd like to stay in the centre of old Cape Town.
Bed configuration	The partment has a luxurious Queen bed and a large sleeper couch that is big enough for two.

Cosy Rooms, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 2

Overview	The Koi Pond Room (1) is one of our largest rooms and faces out on to the garden of Number 3 Carstens Street: the Koi carp pond is right below your window and you’re conveniently a step away from the lounge, veranda and front gate. It features large double sash windows with shutters and one of the original fireplaces of the house as well as two armchairs. There is also a small shower room. The Kane Room (2) is towards the front of Number 3, just opposite the lounge. Decorated in a chic style with hints of Afro Chic and muted tones, this room has more of a minimalist and modern feel to it. The brass double bed and glimmering Oregon pine floor give a great textual contrast. It has a small shower room and is best as a single.
Bed configuration	Koi Pond Room has a twin or a King-sized bed, as you prefer. The Kane Room has a brass double-bed and a double bed.

Family Suite, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 5

Overview	Our FAMILY SUITE is tucked away in Number 1 Carstens in what used to be the owner’s quarters of the house, so it’s private and spacious. There are two separate bedrooms, the main one being light and airy with a King bed. The main room has French windows opening onto a private courtyard with garden furniture where you can catch the sun most of the day. The second has twin singles and delightful period features as well as a small lounge area. The suite has its own private corridor for access and you can close the whole suite off from the rest of the house. The suite has one shower room between both bedrooms and is decorated in an Afro-Chic style with some kitsch elements. The larger room has cable TV with a wide range of international channels.
Bed configuration	The main bedroom has a King-size bed and we can provide a single futon bed to so that you can sleep five. The second room has twin single beds

Fantastic Rooms, 2 bedrooms, sleeps 2

Overview	The Fitzroy Room (6) is one of our two larger rooms: it features a ‘Princess and the Pea’ style bed (remember the fairy tale?), purpose-made for the room, which is either a twin or a King-sized four poster. There is a working fireplace and lots of room to spread out and relax. It faces out on to the garden at the front of the house and is full of light and is situated away from the front door and breakfast room, making it quiet and secluded. The bathroom has a ball-and-claw bath and a separate shower. The whole room is decorated in a wonderfully decadent Victorian style, with the odd tongue-in-cheek touch to keep the atmosphere fun and light at the same time as luxurious. This is our flagship room for a special occasion or once-in-a-lifetime holiday. The Von Veh Room (8) is one of our two most luxurious rooms. Decorated in a high Victorian style with a Queen-sized bed and the original fireplace of No.1 Carstens, it features several antique pieces. You access the room through double doors and will love the space and décor in the bathroom, which has a separate shower. This is the kind of room where you can imagine yourself the star of some period drama, (remember Gone With The Wind?), because of its grand colonial feel.
