Establishment Details - Moontide Guest Lodge
Summary:
Moontide is one minute from the beach, 5 minutes from Wilderness restaurants, Kingfisher trails and the famous Outeniqua steam train. This beautifully appointed guest house offers unparalleled access to the Wilderness lagoon's ever-changing moods and varied birdlife.
Theme:
Start the day with a great breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon. Help yourself to a buffet table of cereals, yoghurt, cheese, breads, juice and milk. The on-duty manager will then offer you a choice of hot breakfast options, served with a bottomless pot of excellent filter coffee, or breakfast or Rooibos tea.
Set amidst 400-year-old milkwood trees and a profusion of birds and plants, Moontide is the most romantic of retreats.
Moontide has a reputation for engendering romance - five proposals have been made (and accepted!) here, and numerous nuptials celebrated in style. We can also assist with wedding planning, hiring an experienced event manager to deal with everything from table decorations to the boat the bride may choose to arrive in.
Views:
So much to do, so little time. Most Moontide guests try to get back to the lodge by 3pm, leaving them a few hours to unwind next to the pool and enjoy the serene lagoon views with sun-downers. Here's the plan: add an extra day to your itinerary, and then there'll be no need to rush! You won't regret it.
Spend the day exploring the forests and waterfalls of Wilderness National park, or sightseeing the quaint towns of Knysna or Oudtshoorn, but make sure you set aside enough time to unwind in your Moontide hideaway before wandering down to the jetty to catch the ferry to a nearby riverside restaurant. What could be more romantic?
Property Description:
Choose from seven en-suite cottages each with their own entrance and views of the luxuriant gardens and wilderness lagoon.
Up to 16 guests could be accommodated.
We regret no children under 8 years of age, without prior arrangement.
Directions to Moontide Guest Lodge
Moontide itself is also well located within Wilderness - at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, it is the only lodge right on the lagoon, yet the beach is a four minute stroll from here, while the charming Milkwood Village, with its craft shops, informal eateries and health spa is a 10 minute walk (or three minute drive) away. The boardwalk and Wilderness Park trails are also within easy walking (or paddling) distance. And one of South Africa's Top 100 restaurants - regularly voted so, and deservedly - is a five-minute drive from your doorstep.
Arriving By Car
The N2, the national high way that traverses the Garden Route, travels through Wilderness. Moontide is clearly signposted - if travelling from Cape Town/George look out for the sign after you have crossed the lagoon, then take the turning (left over the Choo Tjoe railway line) into Southside Road. Moontide is located at the end of the lane.
Airport Transfers
If you are arriving by air, George International Airport is a mere 17 minutes from Moontide. Airport transfers and/or car hire arrangements can be made on your behalf.
