Property Description:
Set in a treed garden with wonderful birdlife, this 7 bedroomed guest house offers 5 en-suite rooms and 2 double rooms with a shared bathroom and adequate secure covered parking.
We offer DSTV in the main guest lounge. Overhead fans in all rooms. Braai facilities next to covered verandah are available. Covered carports available.
Emu & Rhea Breeding Program:
Commercial emu farming is a new industry in South Africa. Pauline was among the first to get involved and realized that getting the genetics of her breeding flocks correct was a very high priority.
As a result, a breeding program was commenced to mix genetics and emu chicks are imported from elsewhere in the world. A quarantine unit is located on the property as well as a number of breeding emus. Rheas are very rare in South Africa - there are only 30 in the country. One breeding pair are currently on the property.
Directions to Modderfontein Guest Lodge
Get onto the N4 from Pretoria/Hartebespoort dam. Exit at the Rustenburg/Krugersdorp off ramp. Turn left onto the R24 heading towards the Magaliesburg Mountains. Follow this road for approx 7 kms until you get to the sign OORSAK and turn left here. We are 3 kms along this road on the left hand side. Modderfontein Guest Lodge Is painted on the wall at the entrance to the property.
