Establishment Details - Masescha Country Estate
We are situated 10 mins drive to Plettenberg Bay or 15 mins to Knysna and set on 12 hectares of garden forest and dams with abundant bird life, ferns, fynbos and flora to enjoy. There are 7 picturesque dams some of which are for fishing, a large swimming pool for guest use and garden walks. There is a variety of accommodation available to suit all budgets from a 5 bedroom house to self-catering garden rooms and you are assured of a big welcome from the owners.

The essence of Masescha is for you to enjoy its peaceful, quiet and tranquil atmosphere and experience a relaxing and restful stay, sleeping well and awaking refreshed in clean, well equipped facilities.

Directions to Masescha Country Estate
From Plettenberg Bay follow the N2 for 10 kms and pass the Knysna Elephant Park on your right, then the Wolf Sanctuary on your left. After 1km see our sign to turn right and follow the road until you see some white painted pillars and we are the middle entrance.

From Knysna follow the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay for 17kms passing the Garden of Eden on your left, then the Sasol filling station on your right, then pass Sassenheim Estate on your left with large plastic flower growing tunnels. Immediately after these tunnels is our sign to turn left. Follow the road until you see some white painted pillars and we are the middle entrance.

Birdsong House (self-catering),  5 bedrooms, sleeps 10
Overview A large house for sole use with a majestic forest outlook. The house is accessed on level ground with a couple of steps inside in the ground floor area and on the patio outside. There are 5 bedrooms, 3 shower/toilets one is en-suite with bath also; lounge with full menu DSTV and DVD, open fireplace and a short steep staircase to the upstairs; fully fitted kitchen with 5 burner gas oven, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron/ironing board etc; large partially covered outdoor patio next to the kitchen and brick built braai (BBQ) facility. Linen, towels, toiletries and hairdryer provided. Guests welcome to use the large on-site swimming pool.
Bed configuration On the ground floor - Master bedroom with queen sized double bed and en-suite shower/bath/toilet. One step up to Bedroom 2 with double bed next to Bedroom 3 with a single bed both adjacent to and using a second shower/toilet. A short steep staircase upstairs to bedroom 4 with 2 single beds and bedroom 5 with 3 single beds and the third shower/toilet in between. A cot can also be provided on request.
Gazania Garden Room (self-catering),  1 bedroom, sleeps 3
Overview A large open plan room with a Mexican pine queen sized bed, hairdryer, DSTV, en-suite shower/toilet, countertop oven with integrated hotplate, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster; outside wooden deck sitting area with brick built braai (BBQ) facility. Linen, towels and toiletries provided. Guests welcome to use the large on-site swimming pool.
Bed configuration 1 queen sized bed. Additional single bed or cot can be provided on request.
Haven Cottage (self-catering),  2 bedrooms, sleeps 6
Overview A quaint and cosy brick and timber 2 bedroom cottage with some low ceilings, accessed by way of steps from above or a grassy slope with steps from below . There is a fully fitted kitchen with gas oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster etc; separate shower room/toilet; ground floor bedroom with queen sized bed, hairdryer; lounge/dining area with DSTV and DVD, a double sleeper couch and a short steep staircase up to the second bedroom with two single beds and some of the best views of the garden from the balcony; outside is a wooden deck with brick built braai (BBQ) facility below. Linen, towels and toiletries provided. Guests welcome to use the large on-site swimming pool.
Bed configuration Ground floor bedroom 1 with queen sized bed. Upstairs bedroom 2 with 2 single beds. A double sleeper couch suitable for children/adults in the lounge. A cot can be provided on request.
Lavender Garden Room (self-catering),  1 bedroom, sleeps 2
Overview A pleasant, basic budget room with 2 single beds, en-suite shower room/toilet, countertop oven with separate hotplate, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, hairdryer, outside wooden deck and side patio with brick built braai (BBQ) facility. Linen, towels and toiletries provided. Guests welcome to use the large on-site swimming pool.
Bed configuration 2 single beds
Sunbird Cottage (self-catering),  1 bedroom, sleeps 4
Overview This bright, brick built one-bedroom cottage is nestled in its own private enclosed patio garden area with brick built braai (BBQ) facility. There is a lounge/dining area with full menu DSTV/DVD and a double sleeper couch through to the bedroom with queen sized bed and en-suite shower room/toilet (please note guests using the sleeper couch must access the en-suite facilities via the bedroom only); fully fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, gas oven, kettle, toaster, etc. Linen, towels, toiletries and hairdryer provided. Guests welcome to use the large on-site swimming pool.

We stayed at birdsong(10sleeper).We have 5 kids ranging from 19 to 5 and they
all loved it. There were boardgames, books to read, ALL the dstv channels, lovely braai area, a kids play park and a fully equipped kitchen. We loved the stunning view from our terrace, it felt like we were abroad. Instead of those fiddly little soaps and shampoos my daughter loved the large shampoo and showergel. Really felt like home.The close proximity to the lovely Saturday market assures me that we will definitely be back.

We stayed at Masescha over the high-peak Christmas period. Birdsong
House is well worth the stay as it provides a home-away-from-home with
the necessary conveniences at hand. The setting is peaceful and
tranquil, allowing you to really unwind, while the location between
Knysna and Plett is absolutely perfect for access to any tourist
attractions you could think of. For cyclists, the trails at Harkerville
Forest are just down the road at the Garden of Eden, so you can do an
early-morning ride through the forests and still be back for breakfast
with the family. A short walk to the Saturday Farmer's Market nearby is
the perfect start to the weekend. Afternoons at Central Beach, sheer
bliss. Will be back
