Establishment Details - La Cabriere Country House
This ideally situated country house enjoys panoramic views, giving one the impression that there is nothing but farms and vineyards for miles around, yet only a 6 minute walk to the heart of the village.

With only 6 rooms, La Cabrière offers privacy, style and tranquility together with a level of personal service not found at most hotels. Ease your way into the evening on those hot summer’s days, out by the pool with a good book or simply absorb the view on your private terrace with a cup of tea and our delicious home-made carrot cake.

On arrival, your first impression will be that of the French Provencal-style main house surrounded by its perfectly manicured lawns and gardens. The superior and standard rooms are attached to the main house. A little further down the driveway you will arrive at the detached cottage, where our three most luxurious rooms are to be found. These have their own fireplaces and individual terraces with magnificent views of the valley and mountains. It is here that all our guests enjoy a delicious breakfast, overlooking the swimming pool and beautiful gardens.

All children welcome - fold-up beds available and cots on request - R425 extra for 2 - 12 years.

Directions to La Cabriere Country House
From Cape Town

Take the N1 direction Paarl. Turn off at Junction 47, (the R44 and the second exit to Stellenbosch). Turn right - under the motorway and across the R101. Cross the railway, and then take the next left, the R45 to Franschhoek, just past a blue and white building called Tahiera’s Superette. Follow this road until you reach a T-junction just after crossing the railway again. Turn right for Franschhoek, and keep straight on up the valley for about 20kms until you arrive in the village. Carry on up the main street past the shops and restaurants until you come to a T-junction in front of the Huguenot Monument. Turn right, and then first left up Middagkrans Road (a gravel road which turns to tarmac). La Cabrière Country House is the first property on the left, set back behind a stand of vines, and accessed up Park Lane. The property is signposted from the Monument.

From the Airport

Take the N2 motorway direction Somerset West. Turn left onto the R300 link road and follow it right through until it joins the N1, direction Paarl. Then follow the directions above.

From Paarl / Worcester

Take the N1 direction Cape Town, exit for Franschhoek and follow the R45 to the village. Then follow the directions as above.

From George / Hermanus

Take the N2 direction Cape Town as far as Grabouw. Turn right direction Villiersdorp. Follow this road until you have crossed the reservoir on a new bridge. Turn left immediately on leaving the bridge, direction Franschhoek. Carry on over the pass and down the other side. As you come down into the village you will have the Huguenot Monument on your left, and have right of way through a T junction. Take the next turning on your left (Middagkrans Road) and you will find the property on your left, as above.

Overview The 3 ‘Deluxe’ rooms are located in the detached cottage, which is approximately 40 metres from the main house. This spacious cottage is also where breakfast is served, on the main terrace in the summer, or in the dining room on chillier mornings. These air-conditioned rooms, with their queen-sized beds, are the most luxurious, as they overlook the gardens and pool and each have a private terrace from which to enjoy the outstanding view. Unique to the poolside rooms is the open fireplace, always stocked up with firewood for those cosy winter evenings in Franschhoek.

Overview The ‘Standard room’ is so named because of its size, larger ensuite bathroom, and separate kitchen area (although it is not a self-catering room). This room is also attached to the main house with its own separate entrance, and is the largest room on the property, however there is no view from the room itself. Due to the fact it is spacious, more private and a little bit further away from the swimming pool, this room is ideal for families with young children. The apartment can be made up with a king-sized bed or with twin beds, and is large enough for the queen-sized blow-up mattress and/ or the cot (available on request).

Superior Rooms,  1 bedroom, sleeps 2
Overview The 2 ‘Superior’ rooms are attached to the main house. They have their own separate entrances. These air-conditioned rooms, with their own en suite bathroom, have beautiful views of the mountains and manicured lawns to the front of the property. There is a small terrace common to these rooms – an ideal spot from which to watch the sun set whilst sipping on a glass of sparkling wine. The two garden rooms differ slightly from one another in that one of them has a queen-sized bed, whilst the other has the option of being made up as a king- sized bed OR as twin beds.
