An abundance of beautiful wild flowers, proteas and fynbos to be seen, as you walk in the fresh mountain air, passing three tor renting natural streams. These trails start near the guest house and wind up into the mountains.

This attractive little town, set on the Berg River a few kilometres to the north of Paarl, is the headquarters of South Africa's dried fruit industry, and of a prosperous wine-producing area. Its vineyards form part of the Paarl wine route. Notable features of the town include the Old Blockhouse, southernmost of the nearly 8000 small forts built to contain the elusive Boer guerilla commandos during the South African War of 1899-1902; and Twistniet, the original homestead of the farm Champagne, on which the town was laid out in 1840. Bainskloof Pass is one of the scenic wonders of the region. The pass affords magnificent views towards Wellington and the distant Swartland.
