138 Marine is one of the few guest houses in the Hermanus area which is situated right at the beachfront, with stunning views of breaking waves and surrounding mountains. The guest house is only five minutes from the Hermanus town centre, renowned for the best shore-based whale watching experience anywhere in the world. It is close to the award-winning Arabella Golf Resort and popular Hermanus golf course, and situated at the gateway to the Hermanus Wine Route.

The extensive breakfast menu changes daily. On request, a picnic can be provided to enjoy on the beach in front of the guest house, and on-site wellness therapies can be arranged.

Directions to 138 Marine Beachfront Guesthouse

Take the N2 Highway North from Cape Town past Somerset West, over Sir Lowry's Pass.

After Houw Hoek Pass, take the R43 Botrivier/ Hermanus turnoff to your left. Travel approximately 26 km past Hawston, Vermont and Onrus.

At the 2nd set of traffic lights (2km before Hermanus), turn right at the SANDBAAI/Hemel en Aarde junction into Main Road (at Engen Garage).

Continue until you reach the T-junction at the beach front. Turn right into Marine Drive (‘Kusweg’). Number 138 is clearly signposted 500 meters down the road on your right.

We chose 138 Marine Beachfront as a way to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. It was the perfect choice. We were hosted most graciously by Louis and Jena in their stylish guesthouse. The sunset from the upstairs lounge was the most beautiful we have ever seen. We felt closely connected with the sea and the beautiful interior greatly enhanced the experience. Highly, highly recommended.

This is a delightful place to stay because it is so well run by Louis and
Jena. They make everyone feel very welcome and are able to answer any
question about the area. They booked restaurants for us which all turned
out to be good, some with wonderfully quirky differences. They gave us good
directions and also made us feel very much at home. The location is
marvelous and it is about a 10 minute drive out of Hermanus, so although
convenient it is very peaceful. Needless to say the décor and furnishings
are beautiful. Jena has a fresh, modern and comfortable approach to
interior design. I would love to go back and would highly recommend it as a
great place to stay
